Where Story Meets Stone
boutique bush escapes
Every story matters, and Country remembers them all.
Established in 2025, Story & Stone Co is the next chapter of a journey that began with the strong foundations laid through Brookes Australia Tours. Built off decades of experience on Country and a deep commitment to respectful, story-rich travel.
What began as a small, heartfelt operation in 1989 evolved into a new chapter—one shaped by deeper partnerships, greater intention, and a commitment to creating luxury experiences that honour the spirit of this place.
From our home in the Northern Territory, we create deeply personal, luxury experiences across Kakadu, Arnhemland and Nitmiluk, with stays at some of Australia’s most extraordinary lodges—Bamurru Plains, Davidsons Arnhemland Safaris and Banu Banu Resort.
We specialise in private bush stays, bespoke itineraries, and meaningful cultural encounters crafted in close partnership with Traditional Owners. Every experience is designed with care, intention, and a responsibility to Country.
Story & Stone Co is where legacy meets new vision—an invitation to walk gently, feel the quiet power of stone country, and carry its stories forward.
Story & Stone Co travel slowly through this country. Not to cover ground, but to understand it. The four-wheel drive hums steadily beneath you, cool and quiet, carrying you away from the main routes and into landscapes that feel increasingly private, stone country rising, floodplains stretching wide, paperbarks leaning over dark water.

of knowledgeFOR OVER THREE DECADES, WE’VE BEEN GUIDING GUESTS THROUGH THE TOP END’S MOST POWERFUL LANDSCAPES, KAKADU, ARNHEMLAND, AND BEYOND.
Story & Stone Co is built for people who want more than a quick look. People who want to go further, stay longer, and feel the Northern Territory properly.
Since 1989, we’ve been creating journeys that feel grounded, personal, and true to this place. Where story lives in stone, and every day changes your sense of time.

Hi, I’m Kat — owner, guide and storyteller behind Story & Stone Co. I’ve been guiding the Top End for over twelve years, working across Kakadu, Arnhemland and the NT’s cultural and wild landscapes, where life is shaped by big skies, long roads and the kind of quiet that reminds you to slow down and listen.
I hold a Diploma in Conservation and Land Management, my Commercial Boat License (Coxswain), and qualifications in Aboriginal history and culture — but the real learning comes from time on Country.
Years of walking, listening, sharing, and being welcomed into places that hold deep cultural strength.I love spending time with people from all over the globe — families, friends, foragers, independent travelers, truth seekers and curious souls.
Everyone arrives with their own story, and this Country holds stories from time immemorial.
Guiding gives me the privilege of bringing those threads together: your story, my story, and the story of the land we’re moving through.I believe the land owns us. We belong to it. So, I guide with humility, with an open heart and mind, and with a genuine respect for the people and Country who make these experiences possible.
My role is to share knowledge, culture and connection in a way that feels honest, grounded and deeply human. The focus is always the same: to take you deeper, keep you safe, and help you understand where you are, not just what you’re looking at.Whether you’re travelling through Kakadu, exploring Arnhemland, or simply wanting to understand this place a little more, I’m here to walk alongside you — gently, respectfully, and with a deep love for the Country I’m lucky enough to call home and I hope to spend time helping you understand it better.
